And

I can’t believe that there’s only

until I get my hands on the 7th book.

I’m TERRIFIED!!

But like I promised June and Minus, I’mma post the recipe of the Potter Pasta.
(maybe it’ll be soothing)………so this is the stuff you’ll need

ingredients.jpg

  • Fettuccine Pasts (they usually come in a box. i guess half a box is enough for like 2 or three people).
  • Olive Oil
  • 2 or 3 cloves of garlic
  • medium or big size white mushrooms (9 or 10 big ones are plenty)
  • Thick cream, I use two of the juice box size KDD ones.
  • half a cup to a full cup of mozzarella cheese. grated.
  • Parmesan cheese grated finely. (get the good stuff and grate it yourself instead of the stuff that comes grated. it tastes so much better)
  • salt and pepper.

I know that this doesn’t seem like much, but its absolutely fabulous. I learned it from my Italian friend who had 10 girls drop buy unannounced (who needed to be fed). so she had to wing it, and it was great.

so here are the steps:

First thing you do is wash and chop up the mushrooms. slices. as thin as you want .. like each mushroom has to be at least four slices.. i know they’ll seem like a lot, but you’ll be shocked at how much they shrink when cooked. Oh and you’ve got to crush the garlic cloves.

Second thing you do is start boiling the pasta. the instructions are on the box.

You then get out a big frying pan and put it on the stove on medium high, then you splash in some olive oil. you wait for the oil to get a little hot and then you throw in the garlic.

you shouldn’t wait for the garlic to brown. just move it around for a bit with a wooden spoon or whatever you’ve got. then throw in all the sliced mushrooms. you toss that around in the pan a bit. I personally then cover it with the lid for a bit. (my friend didn’t do that) but i do. so you let the mushrooms heat up and you remove the lid and toss it and stir it every 30 seconds.

by now you must smell the most amazing mushroom smell. its the flavor for the whole pasta. (i don’t like chicken and stuff in my pasta. i always have my pasta completely vegetarian so feel free to add in chicken or whatever you like).

you season it with salt and pepper. I prefer not to put in too much salt. My Italian friend said that Italians don’t use a lot of salt in their pasta, they like to salt it with the Parmesan cheese afterwards. (according to their taste i guess)

When you see that the mushroom is all small and cooked and it will have some dark liquid in the base of the pan from cooking, this is when you add two or three cartons of thick cream. you stir that together and you’ll see it bubble very quickly. the thing is, its ready NOW. but i like my cheese, so i add half a cup of grated mozzarella to the sauce at this point and wait for it to melt.

you should have your pasta ready and on a plate now. You take the sauce and you pour it all over the pasta. feel free to mix it together, but do it while its hot before the cheese becomes solid again.

you sprinkle a good handful of grated Parmesan cheese on the top and you’re done

to make this a Potter pasta you just wave your wand at the pasta and say:

voilà

sorry for making it long even though its simple, but I just did it this way so that no one has an excuse not to make this pasta. its easy as hell. :)

Preparing for the release of Harry Potter 7:)

dsc00125.jpg

In exactly 2 days 13 hours 16 minutes and 20 seconds, I’ll be first in line at 2 am Friday night/Saturday morning at Jashenmal. and to celebrate this brilliant day and brilliant book or whatever, things have to be perfect for reading of the book. because as you know, once you start reading Harry Potter, you can’t put the book down.. the only time you do put it down is when you fall asleep (which you rarely do). So there are many things to put into consideration and so many lessons learned from reading the last few Harry Potter books. for example:

  1. keep phone off while reading the book in fear that there will be spoilers coming from everywhere. like from my cousin for instance who insisted on sending my sister and I text messages telling us that Snape is the half blood prince and that Dumbledore dies!!!
  2. Can’t leave the house because news papers, magazines and random people have a tendency to spoil the ending for you.
  3. can’t watch TV, because last year, the morning after the book was released, there was a woman “speed reader” being interviewed on the BBC. didn’t know that there was such a thing as a speed reader!!
  4. once people know that you’re a harry potter fan, they have this urge to ruin it for you. so i must not see anyone till i finish reading the book.
  5. I’mma need lots and lots of tissues because I’m already mourning the end of the Harry Potter era. it was what i look forward to :( and i hear that there’s gonna be a lot of deaths in the 7th book. (you dunno how much i cried when Dumbledore died. i felt like i lost an old friend).

So i decided to list my to-dos here. listed by date.

“Harry potter and the deathly hallows” preparation:

Thursday 19th July 2007:

  • Must tell work that I won’t be coming in on Sunday. (unless i finish the book) *excited*

Friday 20th July 2007 Morning:

  • Must sleep in to insure that I’ll be wide awake all night when I get the book.

Friday 20th July 2007 afternoon:

  • Buy munchies to last me at least three days because i won’t be leaving my bedroom.
  • Buy some water to keep me hydrated. (preferably O2 or Evian)
  • Buy Davidoff Ultra Lights (Its essential to find the perfect location to enable me to smoke cigarettes when stressed out from the book)
  • Buy the ingredients to keep the tradition of making my famous pasta. We have the pasta right before we leave the house to buy the book. (I shall call it my Potter Pasta)

Friday 20th July 2007 10.30 pm:

  • Set everything up in my bedroom i.e. table lamp on, prepare the bed by pulling back the blanket, AC freezing, munchies and water in place.
  • Start preparing to make the pasta

Friday 20th July 2007 11.30 pm:

  • Make the pasta
  • sit down and eat the pasta with my sister

Saturday 21st July 2007 12.30 am:

  • leave the house and head to Seef Mall
  • stand in line till the doors open.

Thanks for enduring my obsession and I’m sorry for writing this unbelievably crazy post. hahah WOOHOOO

God, this is interesting!!

innocent faceless was driving around aimlessly around the island, smoking a few cigarettes and legally chatting away with her friend on the phone, using a headset, then all of a sudden, she hears a familiar beep coming from the headset. so naturally she looks at the phone because she recognized that the beep was the text message beep.

she reads the message to herself but she doesn’t get it. so she shushes her friend and reads it to her out loud and even her friend doesn’t get it. so faceless just dismissed the message because she didn’t recognize the number… up until she went to lay down to sleep.

thats when she thinks she figured it out: the message was sent to her by mistake and it said this:

“Hey man tel zulfi tht i want a 50 score on thursday cal him now if u can and arrange it”

so seriously guys. isn’t this interesting?? .. is he placing a bet? or buying drugs???? .. fi amal he’s ordering a hooker?? hahaha .. someone tell me if you understand any of this

The Fat Girl’s Guide to Life :)

I met this girl at the hair dressers, just randomly. We hit it off! We were talking and laughing and stuff. Then she said, “this is what I’m talking about, big girls are so much more fun than skinny girls, no offense!” She was big too. And I didn’t take offense. And you know what? She’s right.book.jpg

I don’t blame her because I’m also usually thrown off when I click with someone in this country.

A few nights ago, my sister wanted to go to the Tiesto party, and her friends weren’t going. I told her that a few of my friends are going and she can go with them if she wanted. She said “But your friends talk and stuff and I don’t know how to ‘talk’ to people”. So I told her “that’s because you’ve always been a thin, pretty girl who never had to make an effort with anyone.” As soon as I blurted that out, I worried that I might have been too harsh, but you know what? She just shrugged and changed the topic. I presume that she agrees with me.

I’ve been reading this book, ’The Fat Girl’s Guide to Life’ by Wendy Shanker. I gotta tell ya; this woman is my soul mate!! :)  She even said that she’d wear red in her wedding. I ALWAYS say that!!

The book talks humorously yet honestly about the way a fat person perceives the world. And how difficult it is being the way we are. But its also empowering and it boosts the self esteem. I love it!!!The book was so well written and so true!! While reading it I would yell “I KNOW!” all the time to no one in particular.I recommend this book to anyone and everyone, not just fat people. Anyone who knows anyone fat and anyone who thinks they’re fat, you’re gonna love yourself so much more after reading this book!!
